Basic Internet

What is the Internet and what is the web (i.e. www)?  Are they the same thing?  This class is part of a familiarization process to answer those questions.  Other questions that we’ll answer are:  “why would you and I use the Internet?” and “what software and/or hardware do we need to connect to the Internet?”

We will also identify and discuss the “modem” and how it is used.  And we’ll talk about how to establish an account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP).  But most of all, we’ll learn about some interesting and fun places to go on the Internet.  This would include some greeting card” websites and, if you like, we can talk about how to send pictures with your e-mail and how to locate relaxing music websites to listen to while you’re sitting at your computer.

  If all you’re doing with your computer is playing solitaire, then this is the class for you.
